Mozilla pushed out their big Firefox 3 Download Day campaign via their SpreadFirefox web site, which was supposed to be a record-breaking 24-hour download goal to mark the release of the latest version of Firefox.
Major Failure. The flood gates were supposed to open at 10:00 am Pacific time… I missed the starting gun but it is now 11:26 am Pacific time and every mozilla-related server I can think of is dead and down… real slick guys, great PR. I would like to hear what happened on this one; these kinds of things are always a good learning experience.
It doesn’t phase me. I am a developer and I know that these things happen, but a browser is used by non-techies who will not understand and will not be as forgiving of this kind of failure. Firefox is not embedded enough in the mainstream to recover easily from this… I really hope they get things pulled together soon. Good Luck. I will wait for it… hopefully others will to.

I guess they had a bit more
I guess they had a bit more than expected: Firefox Records 8.2 Million Downloads in First Day
Looks like they finally got it going
Its about 2:30 pm and I was able to get on the site and download FF3... I am now running it and everything is right with the world. :-)
Apparently they had a bit more traffic than they were ready for. Oops. When you ask for a world record, you better be ready for it.
