About

Who am I?

My name is Christopher Stehno. I am a Senior Software Engineer at a Java-based software company in Tucson, Arizona. I have been doing web development and software development in one form or another since 1995. It is a hobby that became my career (and oddly enough, it is also still a hobby).

My formal education is in Chemical Engineering (B.S.). I worked in the industry for two years and realized that it was not for me. I am a Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform and I am currently working on the Developer Certification project.

I read and watch all the science fiction that I can get my hands on.

I have been married to my beautiful and loving wife since 2001 and we have two over-pampered cats that are like children to us.

I enjoy getting email from people that frequent my site and I often wonder if there are any. Feel free to email me with comments, questions or suggestions any time.

If you are really interested in me, my qualifications, and/or hiring me, you can look at the light version of my resume.

What’s with the picture?

The picture that I use on my site (and as the favicon) is about as far from being “me” as possible. I never wear cowboy hats, or any other hat for that matter… not that there is anything wrong with wearing hats, mind you, but it’s just not me. My wife and I were on vacation in Dallas, TX a few years back and we were playing around in a Ft. Worth Stockyards gift shop. I put on a cowboy hat and she took the picture of me as I tried to give my best rugged cowboy face. Later, I cropped out the background and did some other photo tweaks to make it into the picture you see today.

What is this place?

This site is the latest in a long line of personal web sites that I have maintained (in one form or another) since 1995. It is created using Drupal. I was working on my own content management software; however, I had other things I wanted to be doing with my time… other projects, family, work, etc… so I installed Drupal and am very happy with it.

My web hosting is provided by WestHost running an Apache Web Server.
