My initial experience with Vista was a little shaky, but since then I have grown to like it more and more. I have had to do a tweak here and there but overall its not bad. The visuals and interface candy are nice. Once I have a firm grip on what I need to do and what I have done, I will post a list of my little tweaks… really just a summarization of the tweaks and what site I found them on; I must give credit where credit is due.
On Microsoft-related note, a friend and co-worker of mine is on his way to Redmond to start working as a developer on the Internet Explorer team (for IE 8). I wish him the best of luck and he will be missed from our team, but now at least I can rib him anytime I find some JavaScript or HTML oddity in IE.
With my two recent ventures into Linux-land ending up as less than useful, I have started to see MS as less of the Evil Empire that they are often cast as and more of the stable workhorse that gets the job done. She might kick every now and then but the load gets from one end of the field to the other. With what I have seen in Linux, the horse would take the load most of the way to the far end of the field and them wander around in circles for a while not really knowing how to go farther. Granted the problems I had were not totally the fault of Linux, but Linux combined with my lack of desire to become a driver-writer.
I think I will stick with MS for a while.
